It was a once in a lifetime experience. A few weeks ago my daughters, Lily and Bailey, had the opportunity to participate in a video shoot for a Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin TV commercial — airing now through the holiday season.
For my entire family, including big sister Maddie, it was a fun and exciting experience. But more importantly, it was an opportunity for them to help other kids by raising awareness about the power of giving to Children’s Hospital.
Lily is amazing, and she has cancer
Throughout Lily’s treatments for leukemia, she has tried hard not to be different from other kids her age. She wants to be “normal,” and Children’s Hospital is helping her do that. Participating in this video shoot was a chance for Lily to be different — in a good way.
Lily’s twin sister, Bailey, was thrilled and a little nervous to have a bigger role than expected in the commercial. For Bailey, the video shoot was also an opportunity to show her support for Lily.
Watch this special, extended version of the TV commercial featuring Lily and Bailey:
Dealing with Lily’s cancer has been very difficult. But if her story can reach others, raise awareness, and raise money to support Children’s Hospital, then we have accomplished something for other kids. My husband and I also want her commercial to provide hope to other parents with a new diagnosis. Although new treatments being studied at Children’s Hospital won’t help our daughter overcome her cancer, they will benefit future children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
During the video shoot, Children’s Hospital treated Lily like a normal kid and made her feel like a star. They recognized just how amazing our child is, regardless of her cancer.
