As my family gathers for the holidays, I’m thankful we’ve come through another year healthy and happy. But today I can’t help but think about some very special kids at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin who are facing the battle of their lives.
Childhood cancer at any time of year is sad and tragic, but it seems particularly sad during the holidays.
This year Northwestern Mutual announced a special nationwide charitable program to support pediatric cancer research. Our goal is to accelerate the search for a cure and provide support to families facing the daily struggles of this disease.
We wanted to do something special with our holiday card to further raise awareness of the importance of pediatric cancer research. We found that special touch from Audrey, an 8 year old at Children’s Hospital who recently was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her artwork graces our holiday card this year.
Audrey and so many children like her remind us every day why pediatric cancer research and the search for a cure is so important.
